A trip to Phi Phi Islands

Phi Phi Islands

After Koh Lanta we decided to take a trip to Phi Phi Islands. We found a nice hotel in “the center” because of COVID there are not much people traveling right now and we thought it would be nice with a bit more people and things to do. I can really recommend Banyan Villa right in “the center”. We always book around three nights just to check the place out. The hotel had a nice swimming pool but there is not so many sun beds and if you wanna go to a really nice beach you have to take a long boat but that was fine with us.

The first day we just relaxed and hang out at the pool. We have done a lot of day trips with arranged travel agents but we are often disappointed it’s to touristic so we asked the reception if we could hire our own longtail for the following day. And what a great day it was.

Longtail trip at Phi Phi Islands

We started at nine in the morning. The first thing we were asked was if we would like to see sharks. Of course ! I didn’t think we would swim with them! 😳 we went to Shark reef and went in the sea. Our boat was the only one there so we could swim around for a while. And did we see sharks! We saw around 6 sharks around a meter to one and a half meter swimming right around is was really cool but a little scary even if we knew they a friendly.

After this stop we went to snorkel and visited Maya bay. The place were “the Beach” was recorded. If you like to visit it because the film I recommend it otherwise it’s not worth the money. It’s just a really nice bay but with a lot of tourists and it cost 400 bath just to get of the boat. You can se it from the sea as well.

The next stop was along a high cliff we’re we looked for turtles. We had the fortune to see two swimming around. They are cool and feels a lot more friendly than the sharks.

We did some more stops along the way a on recommendation from our guide. At one place, the fish were use to be feed by the tourists and now when there are not so many they really decided to try to it from us. It was a live fish spa with wonderful yellow fish biting everywhere to check if we were bread. It didn’t fell so much more a funny experience 😂

We also did a stop at monkey beach it was us and 5 more people really nice. The monkeys had their own show for us and they were so cute.

Monkey Beach

We also sailed outside “Viking Cave” a cave on one of the Islands found with an drawing of a Viking ship and we went into some amazing lagoons. The pictures doesn’t make it justice but if you get the chance Take a private longtail instead of the commercial once.
