We went from Koh Samui to Koh Panang we’re we found a marvelous stay, House of Sanskara. You live in cute bungalows right at the beach but in the end of the beach. It was calm and relaxed and perfect for me to just hang out in the hammock with my computer playing with my website and had some meetings. This was a tips from a man from Austria that we meet in Koh Lanta. Koh Panang is famous for its full moon parties (and right now the celebrate every kind of moon) unfortunately when we were there it’s was neither part or full moon but we had a lovely stay. The hills are ridiculously steep so it’s not a recommendation to drive a scooter if you don’t know the roads here. Much better to support the local drivers and rent them for a day. They really need it right now.
After Koh Panang we took the ferry to Koh Tao. A small island in the middle of the sea famous for its snorkeling and diving areas. Our first nights we stayed at a resort Montalay beach resort. They are located on the beach and you can snorkel right from the beach. That was quite nice. It can be some high waves when the wind feels like but there is a pool to use. The resorts is a little off but that’s compensated with free taxi. So if you’re feeling for a dinner in the town or a trip to seven eleven it’s no problem.
We had a bungalow in the garden and for the first time we experience the “wild” life. On the first day we’re meet by both a HUGE spider and a very long green snake taking a sleep on our porch. There venomous snakes in Thailand and even though I’m not afraid of snakes a keep my distance because I can’t really tell if it’s a “ok” snake or a deadly. Well the snake were a little disturbed by us so it decided to get off. The spider on the other hand didn’t care at all that I was disturbed by it so one of the gays had to remove it. He didn’t seem to comfortable either, using a big broom to catch and release it in the jungle.
It’s quite fun watching the different animals. Every morning when a had coffe on the porch there were a big Gekko in the wall of the house making really loud sounds and a lot of squirrels running around the trees. Talk about morning tv live.
One of the days we took a snorkeling trip around the Island. Like times before we rented our own longtail boat. It’s so perfect we can stop wherever we want for how long as we like. We had 5 stops and due to the weather we couldn’t get to shark reef which I really wanted but the waves were to high. But all the places were really good. A lot of corals and of curse small biting fish who were used to getting feed by the tourist who don’t come anymore 😔
Because we’re leaving for Chumpon we decided to move to the beach beside the peer for som nights. This side have more hotels and are not so much hills. There are bars and restaurants everywhere at Sairre beach. If you want to take a tour there is Taxiboats all along the beach. Unfortunately right now much is closed du to COVID but we saw a lot of places under renovation so let’s hope things will change soon. It’s also a marvelous beach to se the sunset.
