Well our two month is about to end. Time flies when you’re backpacking around in Thailand! After Kanchanaburi we only had three days left so we took the bus back to Bangkok to see the big city. We know that big cities isn’t our thing but if you spend two month in Thailand you must se the capital as well. We lived near China town but not much was open. Almost every restaurant was closed. The stores as well.
We did go for a boat tour on the River with a Longtail boat and it was fun to see the houses along the River, the lizards swimming around the boat and the salesmen coming in their smal boats selling everything from souvenirs to beers. Always ending with “and a beer for the driver”? Wanting us to pay for an extra beer for our boat driver. Of course he got one every time 😂
We also sent for a walk in Lumphini Park. A wonderful park with lot of lizards and other animals. You could easy spend a few hours here. Also called the lungs of Bangkok. It has a variety of grass, kanals och strolling area.
We got a tips from one guy we met in Chumphon for a good place to get an PCR test so the next days we took a taxi to the Racket club and fixed it before the trip to Cambodia It doesn’t matter how many test you have taken, the hours before you get the result at nervous. Lucky it was negative again. (We’ve taken A LOT of test this two years during COVID)
In the evening we found the most amazing Street Restaurant with a lovely owner. She told us that she just opened and she hope that tourist would return to Bangkok. Before COVID she worked in hotels all over the world. A lot in Europe and she was amazed how cold it was ! We got a little scared when we said we’re going to Cambodia she said “wow there’s hot!” Ok so we’re in Thailand right now with 32 degrees and you’re telling us Cambodia is hot 😳. Well we see😧 when we get there. When you’re traveling around like we done during this time you really see how the pandemic has hit the country. Not just tourism, all workers from abroad who used to work and live here has gone home. Everything is just shut down. There is som god things too if you’re a tourist. All attractions that use to be crowded are now really good to visit.
Well we’ll time to leave Thailand ! When we arrived at the airport it’s was only our flight that was taken of. The whole airport looked abandoned and nothing was open. It’s a little strange to walk around at this time.
Next update will be from Cambodia! 🇰🇭
