With Peru behind us and countless memories still dancing in our minds, our journey now turns toward a new adventure—one we’ve been dreaming about for so long. The Galapagos Islands await!
Our route takes us through Quito, Ecuador’s high-altitude capital, where we landed in the early morning hours. The cool mountain air greeted us as we stepped off the plane, a gentle reminder that we were now in another part of South America, on the brink of yet another extraordinary chapter.
We had a few hours to rest and recharge at the airport before our connecting flight to the Galapagos. It gave us time to reflect, grab a snack, and prepare ourselves for what’s ahead. But this leg of the journey also came with a few important steps that every traveler should know.
Before flying to the Galapagos, all baggage must be inspected and cleared. It’s not just a routine check—it’s a vital part of protecting one of the most delicate and unique ecosystems on Earth. We watched as our bags were carefully screened, knowing that this process plays a small but crucial role in preserving the islands’ pristine beauty.
We also paid a special transit control fee, another reminder that the Galapagos isn’t just a destination—it’s a privilege. These islands are nature’s treasure, and every precaution is taken to ensure they remain untouched and thriving for generations to come.
With boarding passes in hand and butterflies of excitement in our stomachs, we knew we were just a short flight away from stepping into a world where sea lions nap on beaches, giant tortoises roam free, and marine iguanas bask under the sun.
The adventure continues—and if the Galapagos is anything like we’ve imagined, we’re in for something truly magical.
