Snorkeling with Turtles in Gili Trawangan

After a few busy weeks of traveling through Indonesia, we decided to slow down for a bit – and what better place to do that than Gili Trawangan? We stayed for three nights and chose a small, charming hotel that turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip: Blu d’aMare.

🌊 Turtles Just Outside Our Door

The biggest surprise came on our very first day. Just steps from our bungalow, we grabbed our snorkels, waded into the turquoise water – and there they were. Sea turtles, calmly drifting over the coral reef right in front of the hotel. We swam alongside them every day, and honestly, it felt like a dream.

🏡 Rustic and Relaxing

Blu d’aMare is made up of cozy wooden bungalows set in a lush garden. Ours had a little terrace where we could sit with a coffee in the morning or a cold drink in the evening. The room had everything we needed, but what we loved most was the feeling – quiet, authentic, and just the right amount of simple luxury.

💛 The Warmest Welcome

What made this place really special, though, was the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like old friends. Everyone was kind, helpful, and always smiling – whether it was helping us book bikes, recommending snorkeling spots, or just asking about our day.

🍝 Snorkling, Island Vibes

We stayed here several times and its lovely every time. We can really recommend it. The on-site restaurant have amazing drinks. And ”Whiskey” that runs the snorkeling stand outside is guy who light up yore day. We usually ended the evening with a drink in the garden, listening to the sounds of the island.

In summary:
Our three nights on Gili Trawangan were pure magic – and Blu d’aMare had a lot to do with that. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot with turtles at your doorstep, warm hospitality, and just the right mix of comfort and charm, this little hotel is a gem.
